Everything is harder when you aren’t sleeping well, and there’s nothing worse than the helpless and frustrated feeling that accompanies a sleepless night. There’s no shortage of advice out there to improve your sleep, but many of the people I work with find that what they’re missing isn’t brand new information. Instead, they need a personalized strategy to leverage the knowledge they already have within them.
That’s where cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) really shines – enabling us to put together a data-driven sleep plan that works for you and helps you reach your sleep goals. The best part is that CBT-I is brief (4-8 weeks long), effective (70% of clients achieve significant insomnia symptom improvement), and the benefits last (treatment effects outperform the use of sleep aids in long term studies).
I’m a founding clinician in the RISE Sleep Clinic and a licensed clinical psychologist in Michigan. I hold an APIT to practice telepsychology through PSYPACT. I work with adults with insomnia and other sleep problems using CBT-I. Prior to joining the RISE Team, I completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at The Ohio State University, my clinical internship in the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, and a postdoctoral residency in the Michigan Medicine/VA Ann Arbor Postdoctoral Consortium. I also served as a staff psychologist and Mental Health Clinic Team Leader at the Toledo VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic and started a private practice focusing on treating depression and anxiety disorders with CBT and other evidence-based psychotherapies.
