Leda Maliga
I’m a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in Los Angeles, trained in CBT-I by the Center for Deployment Psychology, where I continue in consultation. I also know this treatment from the other side. I had insomnia for years. I tried the medications and they left me sedated, not rested. CBT-I is what helped me sleep again, and it’s why this work is the center of my practice.
I offer CBT-I one-on-one and in a small group, in person in Echo Park or by telehealth anywhere in California. Treatment follows the standard protocol: a sleep diary (I use the VA’s free CBT-i Coach app), sleep restriction, stimulus control, cognitive restructuring for the thoughts that keep you up at 3:00 a.m., relaxation training and relapse prevention. When it helps, I bring in mindfulness and other tools to calm the nervous system.
One-on-one CBT-I is $175 a session, and I’m in network with Aetna. The Insomnia Group meets online for eight weeks with six to eight people, and includes a weekly 15-minute one-on-one check-in with me. Everyone starts with a free 20-minute consultation, where we make sure it’s insomnia and check for anything, like sleep apnea, that needs a doctor first.
Outside California? I also teach the Sleep Class, a six-week live course on Zoom that’s open worldwide. It’s education, not therapy.
I also see couples and individuals for trauma (EMDR), anxiety and grief.
