Dr Ameen Kamlana is a UK-based General Practitioner and integrative psychotherapist practising at 96 Harley Street, London, with specialist training in CBT-I, EMDR, image rehearsal therapy for nightmares, and menopause-related insomnia. His dual qualification in medicine and psychotherapy means he can diagnose and manage the full range of sleep problems, from straightforward insomnia through to cases complicated by comorbid physical or mental health conditions, medication, or prior trauma — and, as a prescribing GP, he is also able to review, prescribe, and safely taper sleep medication as part of a client's care, something purely psychological practitioners cannot offer.

His first and biggest lesson in what really matters to people came as a medical student, when the roles were unexpectedly reversed and he was hospitalised for three weeks. From that time on, he has endeavoured to bring humility and curiosity to every client's experiences and needs.

After completing his GP training, Dr Kamlana spent several years supporting survivors of trauma at the NGO Freedom from Torture, before training in EMDR. He went on to pursue his interest in sleep medicine through clinical training in psychotherapy at 96 Harley Street, followed by specialist CBT-I training under Dr Hugh Selsick at the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM), UCLH, along with further training in image rehearsal therapy and menopause-related insomnia. He continues his professional development at RLHIM, deepening his knowledge of combining conventional treatments with complementary approaches to sleep and mental health.

Dr Kamlana works across the full insomnia pathway — from initial diagnosis and medication review, through to structured CBT-I treatment, image rehearsal therapy for nightmares, support through menopause-related sleep disruption, and trauma-focused work with EMDR where insomnia is complicated by underlying trauma. He sees clients both in person at Harley Street and online via video consultation.
